Background and Goals

The homeowners had purchased this home back in the ‘90s and the home had never undergone renovations of any kind since then. The homeowners decided it was starting to feel a little outdated and had been preparing for this remodel for years.

Once the homeowners decided that it was time to update their home, they asked Bromwell Construction to do a full renovation of the main living areas and bathrooms, with the goal of making everything look modern and fresh. But another goal was for the homeowners to remain living comfortably in the home throughout the renovation. To accommodate this, we did the projects in phases so that the homeowners always had a usable bathroom and kitchen area.

Work Done and Materials Used

The Remodel

On the entirety of the first floor, we removed all the flooring and replaced it with luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout. (The home owners have two boys and a dog, so they requested something durable.) We also applied a fresh coat of paint to the walls on the entire first floor, including the foyer and the office.

We adjusted the layout of the kitchen to make way for additional storage space and a large peninsula with a breakfast bar. This revised layout also made room for trash can rollouts, rollouts in the base cabinets, cutlery dividers, and new Fabuwood cabinets.

We completely renovated the master suite, including the removal of the fiberglass shower pan and fiberglass shower surround in the master bathroom. We turned this into a full custom tile shower. We also installed painted cement tile flooring, a new double vanity, and brand new fixtures.

The hall bathroom also had a full renovation, with a custom tile surround and waterproof, luxury vinyl plank flooring instead of tile.

We revised the fireplace area by demolishing the preexisting fireplace mantel and surround and replaced it with a new custom-built mantel and surround with stacked stone. The family room also received new custom cabinetry for more storage and an improved entertainment center.

We also reworked existing stair hand rails with custom built newel post sleeves to avoid having to redo the whole handrail completely.

Other new features include custom decorative panelling in the dining room, a fully renovated powder room with new fixtures and flooring, and a newly installed sliding glass door to the back deck.
